I Must Have These!

I was browsing for last night's post, and I was in the "Found Objects" section on Artfire. While I don't think these quite fit in that category, I will say that I must have them.

I truly do not believe my blogging life will be complete until these cute little stickers are covering each and ever key on my keyboard.

My only fear is that they won't work on my mac keyboard. Does anyone have any thoughts about this? Or do any of you know where I can find other stickers like this (anything cute and whimsical will do) that will fit on a mac?

I simply can't go on without this extra dose of awesomeness!

p.s. Want your own set of super cute keyboard stickers? Check out nothingelegant's shop on Artfire!

I've been a bad, bad blogger...

I need to apologize. I've been so slack lately with keeping up my blogs. I try so hard to post on a regular basis, but lately I've just been being lazy. I promise I will get back to posting soon. Please forgive me. I've just been so super busy with custom orders (which is a great thing!).

I've also got some wonderful news (just in case you haven't heard): I've been named editor of the business tips section on HandmadeNews.org! I'll be working with four wonderful columnists to try to make our department wonderful, fun, and educational. So, if you haven't yet, please check out HandmadeNews! (Right now it's still in the start up stages, but it should be fully functional very soon!)

I hope you all have a wonderful Monday (as wonderful as Mondays can be anyway!), and I will see you all tomorrow!

Sisterhood Award Nomination #1

A while back, I was nominated for my first blog award. The award is the "Sisterhood Award," and it's given to blogs that show great attitude/gratitude.

As a stipulation of receiving this award, I must nominate fellow bloggers who deserve the Sisterhood Award. The rules to getting this award are these:

1. put the award logo on the blog and/or post
2. nominate other blog(s) that you feel show the spirit of the award. (attitude and gratitude)
3. let the nominees know about the award, comment on their blog
4. link to the nominees in a blog post
5. to show gratitude and friendship to the person that gave you the award, link to them in a blog post

Today I'm making my first nomination! (Don't worry, there are many more to come!)

I hereby nominate 3zArt to be a recipient of the Sisterhood Award for Blogging. 3zArt not only goes above and beyond to help her fellow artisans/bloggers when they are in need, but she has also set up a wonderful group called the AFSneakers to brighten the day of wonderful new artisans!

3zArt, you are an inspiration to me! I am proud to be able to nominate you, and I hope you will accept this award and display it proudly! Thank you for all you do!

Please go by her blog and say hello to her! Or stop by her studio and tell her congratulations!

p.s. I've also created my very own blog award, which certifies 3zArt as an "Official Ninja"! I plan to give this to my fellow artisans for performing their duties in the most "ninja like" fashion.... So check back to see who the next recipient of these awards will be!

New in my Studio: Avi-Tiles!

I decided a while back to start making custom jewelry with pet pictures on it, and since then I've been brainstorming about other ideas I can use to stand out in the sea of pendant makers. So I've decided to try a new style of custom tiles.

I like to call these custom tiles "Avi-Tiles". Avi-Tiles are awesome (IMO) because they give you a way to link your online world with your real life persona. Simply put, an Avi-Tile is a small piece of jewelry that has your avatar on it. This is what my Avi-Tile looks like:

So what good are Avi-Tiles?

Well, think about it like this: If you are very active on the internet, chances are you use the same avatar across the board. Your avatar is your "face" online. It's how people recognize you, and, if you are online long enough, people start to associate that avatar with you. It's sort of like branding yourself, or giving yourself a logo of sorts.

But what happens when you want to meet those people in the real world? How do you "define" yourself so that you will be recognized by your online friends? Do you offer to wear some loud, flashy hat? Do you carry a bouquet of yellow roses? Or, heaven forbid, do you stand around holding some silly sign that says "I'm *insert online name here*"?

Avi-Tiles get rid of that need! With an Avi-Tile, you can take that little picture everyone already knows you by and turn it into a fun little pendant, ring, pin, or even cufflinks! Then, when you go to a craft fair with your fellow artisans, or a tweet up with your fellow bloggers, everyone will easily recognize you! You won't spend your entire night thinking "I wonder who these people are... and I wonder if they know who I am.." Instead, people will notice you and introduce themselves! And, you'll have the added benefit of being the coolest person there... because, let's face it, how cool can you really be if nobody knows who you are?

If you want your own Avi-Tile, please check out my studio! They take just a few days to make, they are truly one-of-a-kind, and all you have to do is send me a picture once you place your order!

p.s. My Avi-Tile listings disappear pretty quickly once I put them up, but if you want one and don't see them listed, please contact me and I will be sure to get a listing up for you ASAP!

My Very First Blog Award! Yippee!

Let me start by saying that I am floored right now!

I just got a comment from Deb (My guild master in the FCW Guild on Artfire) that I've been awarded the Sisterhood Award! This award is given to blogs that show great "attitude or gratitude" (according to nunofakind).

I truly can't believe this! I am so happy that someone would think of me like that! Receiving this award has made my day!

I am truly grateful for the wonderful women who have passed the torch on to me! Please go check out their blogs and say hello!

p.s. Check back soon as I will be making my nominations for future "Sisterhood Award" recipients! ;0)

Twitter Confusion

Ok... so I've had a Twitter account for a while now. Actually, I've been there almost a year. But, for the dang life of me, I can NOT figure it out! This is SUPER frustrating for me as I am usually VERY good with all things computer related. I honestly think I am just making it WAY harder than it is.

The thing that stumps me the most is how to "auto tweet" something. Meaning, how do I set it up so that my blog posts and shop listings are twittered as I post them?

Anyone wanna help me out? LOL

Rapid Cart is AWESOME!

Artfire just rolled out this cool new toy for all verified sellers that let's buyers check out DIRECTLY FROM BLOG PAGES!

Here's how mine looks:

If you haven't seen it yet, and you're an Artfire artisan, go to "my studio" and look under "promote". See that little link that says "rapid cart"? Good... click it! It's SO super easy to use, and you just copy and paste the code anywhere you'd like!

I've figured out that it looks best using only two columns on my blog, but you can use up to a 5 by 5 grid if you have the space!

I'm sure there will be a few bugs, as it's still a new application, but overall it seems to work well. Yay to Artfire once again!

The Pay It Forward Game

Ok, so I was reading around some of your blogs, and I came across this game on djstoreroom's blog. I love the idea, so I thought I'd start my own little PIF game.

Here are the original Rules:
1. Be one of the first three bloggers to leave a comment on this post, which entitles you to a handmade gift
2. Winners must post this challenge on her blog, meaning that you will Pay It Forward, creating a handmade gift for the first three bloggers who leave a comment on YOUR post about this giveaway!
3. The gift you send can be from any price range and you have 365 days to make/ship your item. This means you should be willing to maintain your blog at least until you receive your gift and have shipped your gifts. And, remember: It’s the Spirit and the Thought That Count!
4. When you receive your gift, feel free to blog about it, sharing appropriate Linky Love
5. If you are not one of the Top Three to comment on this post, you can still play along. Please start your own 'Pay It Forward chain', and encourage your blogging friends to do the same.

And, I would be most pleased if you could just join in the fun!!

Ok everyone... on your mark, get set, COMMENT!!!!

(p.s. I will make you a deal, if you AREN'T one of the first three to comment, but you'd still like a free item from me, send me a message once you have started your own PIF chain (with a link to the posting please!) and I will see what I can do!)

Welcome to the madness!

Hi everyone!

I guess it's about time that I joined the land of the craft bloggers. I have long been an anonymous blogger, but never have I tried to write anything serious.

Please bear with... this could be a little strange in the beginning...

I am not used to having a "real name" attached to my writings, so I'm a little nervous about that! I have to get over the fact that I can't hide behind my keyboard anymore... and, to be honest, I'm not even really sure what to say now that my anonymity has been stripped away.

But doggone it... I am going to try!

Feel free to comment, suggest things, vent, bitch, whine, moan... whatever you feel like doing!

I welcome any and all interaction!

Thanks for taking the time to check out my little corner of the world... hopefully I won't fail to deliver in the future!
